El Cid Mexican restaurant is walkable for the fitter visitor or there is a selection of steak house, smoke house and Pizza on the way to the center of Oakhurst which is less than 3 miles away. One of our favorites is Ducey's On the Lake, 10 minutes in the other direction overlooking Bass Lake. For those who want a more luxurious experience there is Erna's Elderberry House - the very best. ...and yes there is Starbucks!

Bass Lake ​is 5 miles away and great for fishing, boating and just sitting by the water. There are places to rent boats by the hour or day. Pontoon boats, jet skis, wake surf boats, kayaks or fishing boats. There are plenty of beaches to lay around in the sun as well as some that have swimming areas. There are trails to hike and fantastic views from the dam.

The Cabin is 13 miles from the Southern Gate entrance of Yosemite. As you enter stop by the Mariposa Grove, see Wawona, take a detour and head up to Glacier Point for grandest of all views.

Yosemite in the winter is truly amazing. The frozen falls and ice laden trees make great picture opportunities. In February the wonders of nature are on show with Fire Falls. For just a few weeks for a few minutes a day the sun turns this water fall a glowing red and orange,

There are places to rent ATV's Jeeps or Slingshots - my favorite!

Go off-roading on an ATV, RZR or in a Jeep tour through the rugged Sierras to amazing destinations. Or head off-road on your own and rent a RZR and go on a self-guided tour. Want to rent something fun to drive through Yosemite or around Bass Lake? Take a slingshot or Jeep to drive locally or through the park! ​

The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad is a fun-filled excursion for the entire family, located less than 9 miles from the cabin on the way to the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park off of Highway 41. The historic railroad offers train rides, gold panning, an on-site rail museum, and a fun gifts & collectibles store. Open April through October.

For the winter, there is skiing plus snow play areas such as Goat Meadow, 12 1/2 miles north. A free snow play area great for tubing, sledding, snow ball throwing and more.

Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area California’s first established ski area has been a favorite family destination. The non-intimidating slopes and casual atmosphere make it perfect for beginning skiers and provide a fine setting for a relaxing family day in the snow and sunshine.
